Galkayo (SD) – Puntland State President Said Abdullahi Deni attended the celebrations of the country’s 60th Anniversary of independence and the Unification of Somali Republic.
The ceremony, which took place at the Presidential Palace in Galkayo, was attended by former Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas, former Vice President Mohamed Ali Yusuf Gaagaab who is currently on the Committee reviewing the Somali Constitution Committee, Puntland Government Councils, military officials, Mudug and Galkayo district administrations, traditional elders and many others.
Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni spoke about the situation in Somalia in his speech, supporting the Puntland Parliament decision on June 29th regarding the illegal actions of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
President Deni said that the Federal Government wants to destroy the federal system which the regional administrations are based on, effectively demolishing the regional member states.
He also pointed out that President Farmajo and his government want to undermine the country’s constitution by destroying the Upper House as they Represent the member states.
The Puntland president’s comments came days after the country’s electoral committee proposed a new timeline for elections to take place in the country., indirectly extending the federal government’s tenure.
