HARGEISA (SD) – The Somaliland Electoral Commission has just announced that the opposition candidate from the Waddani party, Mr. Abdirahman Irro, has won the presidency of Somaliland.

Candidate Abdirahman Abdillahi Irro achieved a historic victory in the election held on the 13th of this month, securing significantly more votes than his rival, the incumbent President Muse Bihi Abdi.

Furthermore, the political party elections saw three parties emerge victorious: the Waddani party, which has now taken control of Somaliland, the Kaah party, and the outgoing ruling party Kulmiye. The UCID party, led by Feisal Warabe, lost both the Presidential and the Party elections.

The Kulmiye party and its candidate, Muse Bihi Abdi, suffered a painful defeat, as the people of Somaliland voted for change, leading to the Waddani party’s victory in the recent elections.
