Hargeisa (SD) – The Ethiopian government who has recently promised to appoint a new Representative to Somaliland, is reportedly to appoint prominent intellectual in Hargeisa to that post.

Sources confirmed to local media in Hargeisa that Professor Said Muhumed Jibril, the deputy chairperson of Hargeisa University will be the Ethiopian Representative to Somaliland.

The Professor is said to be in Addis Ababa for discussions regarding his reported appointment to the post.

The Ethiopian government is currently worried about Egyptian request to Somaliland for a military base and is said to be interested in reaffirming its allegiance with Somaliland.

Neither the Professor nor Addis Ababa have confirmed the predicted appointment of Mr. Said Muhumed Jibril to the diplomatic post yet.
