Ethiopian has praised presidential and political party elections held in Somaliland

ADDIS ABABA (SD) – The Ethiopian government has commended the combined presidential and political party elections held in Somaliland’s regions on November 13, 2024, for being conducted in a free and fair manner.

In a statement, the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the people of Somaliland for conducting peaceful and democratic elections.

The Ministry also lauded the Somaliland Electoral Commission for organizing the free and fair elections, stating that the process was highly appreciated.

The Ethiopian government’s statement highlighted that the elections reflect the maturity and democratic system of Somaliland, acknowledging the progress and democracy achieved in Somaliland.

The results of the elections held in Somaliland are still awaited, with widespread speculation that the Chairman of the Waddani Party, Abdirahman Irro, will emerge as the elected President.
