Ethiopian PM abruptly leaves Djibouti Conference

Djibouti (SD) – The Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed, left Djibouti this morning after only attending the first day of the Somalia-Somaliland Dialogue in the coastal town of Djibouti.

The Nobel Peace winner who was credited for arranging the conference left abruptly this morning without any explanation to the media.

Abiy and his accompanying delegation on route to Ethiopia were escorted to the airport by senior officials of the government of the Republic of Djibouti.

Sources present at the conference speculated to somalidispatch.com that the Ethiopian PM didn’t expect the Somaliland delegation to be as resolute and saw the writing on the wall.

The Somaliland president’s speech at the conference was seen by many as having a strong case for independence.

The Ethiopian PM addressed the opening of the conference and gave an speech on the prospect of reconciliation between Somalia and Somaliland.

It’s not known when the conference will conclude given the PM’s sudden departure.
