Hargeisa (SD) – The new Ethiopian envoy to Somaliland Ambassador Said Mohamed Jibril has arrived in Hargeisa.

The new Ethiopian envoy to Somaliland landed at Egal Airport in Hargeisa on Sunday, where he was greeted by officials from the Somaliland Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Ambassador Said Mohammed Jibril replaces the former Federal Government of Ethiopia’s Representative to Somaliland Ambassador Shamsuddin Ahmed Roble, he has been absent for a while, although the Ethiopian office in Hargeisa is functioning well.

Prior to his appointment as Ethiopia’s Representative to Somaliland, Dr. Said Mohamed Jibril was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Hargeisa.

The two countries relationship have been recently tested by Egypt’s request for a military base in Somaliland. Ethiopia saw that request threatening due to the Nile dispute with Egypt.
