Ex-Somali president meets HirShabelle leader over political crisis

MOGADISHU (SD) – Former Somali president and current presidential aspirant, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has held meeting with president of HirShabelle State, Ali Gudlawe Hussein in Mogadishu.

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, a leading member of the opposition Council of Presidential Candidates (CPC) and Guudlawe discussed the impasse over the national electoral process between the federal government and opposition politicians and ways to resolve the matter.

They also discussed the situation in HirShabelle State including the tensions in Hiiraan region.

During his stay in Mogadishu, the HirShabelle State President who ally to the incumbent Federal President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is expected to hold meetings with politicians, members of both houses of the federal Parliament and government officials.

Since last week, Galmudug, Hirshabelle and Southwest State leaders who are allied to Farmaajo had been to take up the task of negotiating with their fellow regional presidents from Puntland and Jubbaland to iron out standing thorny issues.

The trio also met with several other opposition members to iron out the difference with Villa Somalia.
