Galkayo (SD) – The situation in Galkayo, the capital of Mudug region, is calm after a grenade was hurled at Puntland security forces near Xera-Darawiish shortly after evening prayers.

The blast took place near a restaurant called (Aweys) in Darawiish camp, where security forces were stationed in Galkayo.

One person was killed and two Puntland security forces were slightly injured in the blast, although security officials did not elaborate on the circumstances.

Security forces cordoned off the area and conducted security operations. In an effort to secure and apprehend the perpetrators of the attack.

This comes at a time when security in Galkayo has been improving, due to enhance security patrols by Puntland’s security authorities in the region.
