MOGADISHU (SD) – A major conference, recently announced by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, will officially open today, June 16, in Mogadishu.
The conference will be attended by various delegations from within the country and abroad. Final preparations for the summit are being overseen by a special committee appointed by the government to manage the event, as confirmed by Somali authorities.
During the summit, national leaders will engage in discussions with Somali stakeholders, focusing on critical national issues such as unity, security, constitutional matters, and elections.
The conference was initially scheduled to take place today. However, while it has been officially announced, it remains unclear which participants will attend and what specific agenda items will be discussed.
Opposition politicians have raised concerns about the summit, demanding transparency regarding the topics to be discussed. They have also called for the inclusion of the Puntland and Jubbaland administrations in the talks.
