Mogadishu (SD) – Acting Somali Constitution Minister Salah Ahmed Jama today addressed issues related to the August 15th conference in Dhusamareb, the capital of the Galmudug state of Somalia, which will bring together federal, state, and political leaders.
“The plan is just that, we are technically planning to open the conference in Dhusamareb in May.” said the Minister of Constitution.
Salah Ahmed Jama also noted that the Jubaland and Puntland administrations are still reluctant to attend the conference but pointed out that efforts are underway to convince those administrations.
The Minister of Constitution pointed out that these efforts are being spearheaded by the Presidents of Galmudug and Southwest Administrations in Mogadishu.
The minister revealed that there are ongoing meetings between individuals in the capital, regarding the third phase of the upcoming consultation meeting in Dhusamareb.
This meeting will focus on the sensitive issue of holding timely 2020/2021 elections in the country, its coming at a time when the federal government is digging its heals on extending its term to hold a one person one vote.
