MOGADISHU (SD) – Several people are feared to have died as hundreds were forced flee their homes today following heavy clashes between government troops and forces loyal to the opposition in Mogadishu.

SNA troops based in Middle Shabelle region who had last night vacated their bases entered the capital to protest the controversial term extension by Farmajo government.

The fighting reportedly flared up midday in Fagah area after SNA forces supporting the opposition tried to capture parts of the city and clashed with the government forces.

There are reports that residents have begun fleeing the surrounding neighbourhoods.

A protest also took place in the area neighbourhood before the clash.
