Mogadishu (SD) -Somali military officials in Awdheegle and Marka confirmed that clashes between Al-Shabaab fighters took place last night in Biyamalow area of Lower Shabelle, according to the Somali local media.

Al-Shabaab affiliated militants, Hisba and the rebels fought in Lower Shabelle, the exact cause is unknown.

The clashes are said to have caused casualties and there have also created fears in the community that reside in those areas.

Somali military officials told local media in Mogadishu that al-Shabaab’s infighting caused the deaths of several of their militants.

Al-Shabaab has not yet commented on the fighting. Nor can anyone independently verify the government military officials allegations.
