Lasanod Feb 07, 2023(SD) – Fighting resumed in the city of Laascaanood for the second , the capital of Sool, between the SSC and Somaliland forces.

The conflict began after the Somaliland forces launched another attack on Laascaanood, after deadly fighting on Monday.

Reports indicate that the fighting began near Hotel Xamdi, Buurta Sayidka, and the southern cemeteries of Laascaanood.

Preliminary reports indicate that the Somaliland forces were repelled and their main command in Goojacadde is at risk of falling into SSC control.

A statement from Somaliland claimed that the attack was carried out by terrorists supported by forces from Puntland and Khaatumo.

But local leaders and intellectuals issued a statement yesterday denying any affiliation with terrorists. and declared their affiliation with Somalia.

In yesterday’s fighting, Somaliland forces entered the city killing lots of people including 7 people from the same family were among the dead.

According to some estimates, at least 50 people have died in the conflict that began on Monday, February 6, 2023.
