Bossaso (SD) – Frightening details are emerging from fighting this evening in the Bari regional capital of Bossaso, as preparations are underway to host the election of 16 seats in the Somali parliament.

One person was killed and at least two others were injured in the clashes between youths from different parts of Bossaso, the commercial capital of Puntland.

The fighting erupted after youths from Bush Qodah and Sandaqadaha neighborhoods clashed with handguns, prompting the security forces in Bari region to intervene.

Security forces, who failed to apprehend the youths, dispersed them by opening fire, the situation in the town is now calm, according to local residents.

The regional administration has not updated the public in tonight unrest in Bossaso.
