Four killed in two blasts outside Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (SD) – At least four people including a regional administration official have been killed and several others sustained injuries in two explosions on Saturday in Lower Shabelle.

Hassan Gudur, the Leego District officer was killed when a bomb fitted to his car exploded near the police station in Wanlaweyn town His bodyguard was seriously wounded in the attack.

In separate bomb attack happened hours later in Muuri village, killing commander of Ma’awisley militia. alongside two of his bodyguards.

The attacks were claimed by Al-Shabaab through their online media.

Al-Shabaab militants have been fighting Somalia’s internationally backed government for more than a decade.

In support of troops contributed by five eastern African countries have helped the country wrested major towns including the capital following days long fight with the militants.

The militants currently control large s territories in south and central Somalia.
