Four Northern Seats in the Lower House elected in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU- (SD) – Today the election of four seats in the House of People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia in the northern regions of Somaliland was concluded in Mogadishu.

The first seat in today’s election at the General Kahiye Training School in Mogadishu, HOP 268, was won by Mohamed Ali Hagaa who received 98 votes, after the forfeiting of his rival Ahmed Mumin.

The second seat, HOP 267, was won by 97 votes for Zainab Mohamed Amir, after her rival Suado Mumin Meygaag conceded.

The third seat in today’s election in Mogadishu, HOP 236, was won by a show of hands of 98 votes for Adnan Osman Elmi Boqore; whereas Farhan Abdullahi Ali, who was running against Adnan Osman Elmi, was defeated.

The fourth seat, HOP 269, previously held by Mohamed Abdullahi Kamil, was won by Abdirahman Mohamed Omar after the resignation of his opponent Buho Mohamed Osman, and Abdirahman Mohamed Omar received 98 votes by a show of hands.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission of the northern regions of Somaliland, is in the process of holding the seats in the House of the People in the constituencies of Somaliland. The elections will be held in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.
