MOGADISHU (SD) – According to reports from Afgoye district in Lower Shabelle region, heavy fighting broke out last night between Al-Shabaab and government forces.

Al-Shabaab militants have reportedly attacked a government base in Afgoye district, sparking fierce fighting that has left residents in fear.

The two sides used heavy weapons and the fighting resulted in casualties although no exact details were available.

The situation in Afgoye district is calm this morning after last night’s fighting and troops were seen inside the district conducting security operations.
