BOSSASO (SD) – A brief exchange of gunfire took place in Bossaso, the capital of Bari region, between Puntland forces and the PSF under the command of former Director Mohamud Osman Diyano.

The gunfire at the Bossaso Cowska Camp was reportedly between the PSF forces under the command of Brigadier General Mohamed Amin Abdullahi Kheyr and those under former Director General Mohamud Osman.

The police chief said an investigation would be launched into the shooting in Bossaso, noting that the incident will not affect the ongoing peace process in led by traditional leaders.

“The incident is being investigated, the culprit will be held accountable for what happened, and I can say that people are smart, I don’t think much will change, ”said Commander Abdulkadir Jama Dirir.

Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni announced a ceasefire in Bossaso on December 24th, following three days of fighting in the city, and tensions remain unresolved over the dismissal of Director Mohamud Osman Diyano.
