Somalia’s Covid19 twitter account attacks Farmajo supporters

MOGADISHU (SD) – A short statement chasing supporters of the outgoing president was posted on Covid19 twitter @SomaliaCovid19.

The Tweet on the government account read, “The second wave of #CBB is more dangerous than Corona. Please stay away from twitter-space ”

This message raises the question of who exactly hacked or is in control of the social networking sites of the government.

The country’s health ministry has said it has no control over Covid19’s social networking site, claiming it was set up in the prime minister’s office.

Despite allegations by the Ministry of Health, information about Covid19 has already been posted on the site before, and there has been no issues. The Prime Minister’s Office did not respond to a request for comment.

The @SomaliaCovid19 Twitter account is currently restricted.

This is not the first time that social media and government media is weaponized by the supports of the feuding president and the PM of Somalia.
