Jowhar (SD) – Somalia’s HirShabelle administration President Ali Gudlawe abruptly boycotted a meeting between PM Roble and the country’s regional leaders in Mogadishu to discuss election issues.
“The HirShabelle government declares that it is not part of the meeting of the National Consultative Council of the Federal Government, Member States and the Benadir Regional Administration that will open tomorrow in Mogadishu,” HirShabelle said in a statement.
Hirshabelle’s presidency said it had not been consulted with on the conference in Mogadishu.
“HirShabelle government as it has no say in holding the conference, the outcome will not be a matter for the HirShabelle government, ”said HirShabelle.
Aside from Hirshabelle’s statement, the exact motive behind Gudlawe’s boycott of the conference is still unclear. However it believed that it has to do with the number of regional Constituencies.
Finally, Hirshabelle said it would abide by the implementation of the September 17 and May 27 agreements in Mogadishu.
The president of HirShabelle state has been out of the country for the past few days and is in Turkey.
