Garoowe December 22, 2022 (SD) – President Said Abdullahi Deni today received U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar at the Puntland presidential palace.

While in Garowe, Ilhan Omar will reportedly hold meetings with the top leaders of the Puntland state, where they will discuss various issues.

Last week, the lawmaker participated in a reception for President Hassan Sheikh in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he was elected.

Ilhan Omar, elected from Minnesota in 2018, became the first Somali American to be elected to the House of Congress. This is Ilhan Omar’s first visit to Somalia as a Congresswoman.
