MOGADISHU (SD) -A group of Somali pirates, who hijacked a vessel allegedly belonging to Iran have been intercepted by the Indian Navy.
Indian Navy officials stated that their operation, lasting several hours, led to the surrender of the pirates who had hijacked the boat.
The intercepted pirates were said to have hijacked the vessel named Al-Qamar, now liberated with 23 crew members aboard, who are reported to be safe.
This interception follows a previous operation by the Indian Navy against another group of Somali pirates, involving 35 individuals after they hijacked the MV Ruen, another vessel they had seized.
