Bossaso (SD) – The ISIS group operating in Somalia claimed responsibility for a grenade attack on a police checkpoint on August 7th.
The attack, in Mogadishu’s Towfiq district, killed one police officer and wounded two others.
The news was published today on a Twitter account commenting on the activities of the militant groups.
The attack appears to highlight ISIS’s presence in Mogadishu and southern Somalia.
ISIS currently has about 300 militants in the mountains of Puntland’s Bari region, where the group has set up military training camps.
The group’s leader, Abdikadir Mumin, is believed to be hiding out in the mountainous Bari region.
