Mogadishu (SD) – Abdullahi Kulmiye Adow, a journalist working for Kulmiye Radio in Mogadishu, has been released after four days in federal custody.
Journalist Abdullahi Kulmiye was released without trial, after been arrested for interviewing businessman Abukar Omar Osman who professed to supported al-Shabaab’s ideology.
Journalists in Mogadishu and other parts of Somalia have called on the government to release the journalist unconditionally.
Talks between Kulmiye Radio’s top management and Somalia’s security officials resulted in the release of the journalist, who had been detained without a trail.
For years, Somali journalists and media outlets have been experiencing of repression and intimidation by Somali and regional security forces.
