Kismayo (SD) – The Jubaland Electoral Commission has today announced the schedule for the election of 6 seats in the House of the People.

The six seats are among the 14 seats the regional commission originally planned to hold on December 13, 2021.

According to the commission, the six-seat election will take place on December 28th, with the registration and announcement of the selection committee set to begin today, registering candidates on the 27th.

The move also comes ahead of the upcoming National Consultative Council’s meeting in Mogadishu in few days.

Jubaland’s decision to start the election process for the six seats is a blow to efforts to stop the elections, which they say is being rigged.
