DADAAB (SD) -News from the North Eastern region of Kenya reports that a vehicle carrying civilians near the Dadaab refugee camp was hit by an explosion, suspected to be a landmine, targeting civilians returning from Dadaab to their homes.
Confirmed reports indicate that the explosion resulted in the tragic death of three individuals, and five others sustained injuries.
Among the deceased were a prominent traditional leader Ugaas Amin Hassan Samatar and his son. Those injured were promptly transported to the hospital in Mandera town for medical attention.
The latest updates mention that the local police in Mandera are conducting investigations and suspect possible involvement of the extremist group Al-Shabaab, which has been engaged in ongoing conflicts with the Kenyan security forces.
