Garissa January 24, 2023 (SD) – -Kenyan security forces are reported to have killed at least 12 Al-Shabaab fighters in a fierce clash near the Kenyan-Somali border.
A statement from the Kenyan police said that security forces launched an attack on an Al-Shabaab camp in Sedahgose, a village in the Garissa district.
The camp was reportedly occupied by Al-Shabaab fighters. The security forces also reportedly captured one fighter alive.
The statement also said that the security forces seized explosives, a PKM machine gun and an AK-47 rifle.
This operation comes a few days after the Kenyan government deployed several hundred troops to enhance security in towns and villages near the border with Somalia.
