Kenya names Diplomatic envoy to Hargeisa

Hargeisa (SD) – Kenya has appointed new officials to Somaliland to head a new diplomatic mission it will soon open in Hargeisa, according to Somaliland’s outgoing Ambassador to Kenya.

“As the outgoing Somaliland Ambassador to Kenya, I am pleased to have received confirmation from the Kenya Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the opening of the new Kenya office in Hargeisa.” Amb. Bashe said.

Benson M. Mwaliko has been appointed head diplomat of Kenya’s office in Hargeisa.

“Pleased that I have seen this come to fruition. Kenya and Somaliland are like minded partners bound by an unshakable belief in the power of freedom and democracy to promote prosperity and build brighter futures for their people.” Added Amb. Bashe.

The diplomatic mission to Hargeisa was part of an agreement reached between Presidents Bihi and Uhuru at a meeting in Nairobi last year.

“I believe that Somaliland and Kenya’s economic and trade exchanges, cooperation in various fields, as well as the friendships between people will be enhanced with the opening of the Kenya office.” Said Amb. Bashe Omar

Although the two countries have no borders, relations between the two countries have improved in recent years.
