Kenya probes abduction of Somali scholar

NAIROBI (SD) – Kenyan authorities have launched investigation into the into the circumstances under which a horn of Africa Analyst who was abducted in Nairobi.

Abdisamad who also the executive director of the Institute for Horn of Africa Strategic Studies, was last seen in Nairobi on Wednesday.

It is alleged that Abdisamad, who also serves as an analyst at Southlink Consultants, was picked by four men along Tubman Road in Nairobi CBD and was bundled into a vehicle. In the car was allegedly a fifth man waiting.

Speaking to the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslim leadership who presented themselves at the DCI Headquaters seeking to draw his attention to the rising cases of enforced disappearances, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti committed to investigations to establish the whereabouts of Abdiwahab Sheikh Abdisamad.

His family filed a missing person’s report at the Central and Akila police stations. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is requested to contact his wife or human rights group Haki Africa.

His sister who spoke to the media said “we went to the Central Police Station, together with officers we went to the scene where he was taken and up to now, we don’t have any information on where he has been taken.”
