Nairobi January 11, 2023 (SD) The government of Kenya has announced today that it will be opening a consulate in Somaliland, according to a presidential order issued by William Ruto.
Kenya will be opening a consulate in Somaliland as part of efforts to expand its diplomatic activities in other countries.
The order will see embassies being opened in the cities of Djibouti, Bern, Arusha, Goma, Jakarta, and Hargeisa.
The consulates in Djibouti, Jakarta (Indonesia), and Hargeisa are Kenya’s first to open in those countries, according to the foreign ministry.
Somalia did not comment on Kenya’s decision to open an Embassy in Somaliland.
