GARISSA (SD) -A planned operation by the Kenyan military targeted an Al-Shabaab base in the DigDiga area of Faafi, near Garissa.
The operation was initiated based on intelligence from residents who informed the authorities of a planned attack by the group targeting regional security officials.
The military successfully launched a surprise attack on the militants as they prepared for their operation in the DigDiga area. The engagement resulted in the deaths of two Al-Shabaab members and injuries to others.
Kenyan forces seized a cache of weapons, including AK-47 rifles, ammunition, hand grenades, and other equipment.
Security officials praised the local community for their cooperation and encouraged them to continue reporting suspicious activities related to Al-Shabab. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to enhance security in Garissa and its surrounding areas.
