MOGADISHU(SD)-The United Nations Office at the Halane compound has issued security alerts, indicating that there are potential terrorist attacks involving vehicle-borne explosives that could occur in various locations in Mogadishu.
The UN’s warning targets staff based in the capital, specifying that potential attack sites include hotels, checkpoints such as the one protecting Villa Somalia, and Liido Beach.
UN personnel have been advised to avoid these potentially targeted areas and are encouraged to stay in their residences, secure facilities, and other safe locations.
These security alerts from the Halane compound are sometimes considered credible, but at other times they are seen as merely precautionary measures intended to raise awareness and concern among the Somali public.
