Baidoa (SD) – The Southwestern State Parliament has voted to extended a year to the term of the President of the Southwestern State of Somalia, Abdiasis Laftagaren.
The Southwestern regional Parliament voted on the motion regarding what to do about the upcoming presidential vote being different that of the parliament, opting for the extension.
87 MPs who attended the regional Parliamentary session today voted for a one-year extension of President Abdiaziz Hassan Laftagaren tenure to 2024.
The president of the South West has been in office for over two years and now his tenure will now end at the same time as the newly elected regional Parliament.
The Somali Federal Government is on side with the extension and is accused to be behind the move, paving the way for a possible extension for them.
