Las Anod (SD) – Reports from the capital of Sool Region, Las Anod, indicate that a new Municipal Councillor has been killed in his home today.

Abdirisaq Ahmed Elmi, one of the new Las Anod Councillors was killed by unknown gunmen in Las Anod at his home.

Reports indicate that the killers escaped from the scene, and Police are investigating the gruesome murder.

Abdirisaq Ahmed Elmi (Cardoofe) was one of the members of the Las Anod district councillors from the Waddani opposition party.

Somaliland government is yet to address the killing of the Las Anod councillor.

Las Anod district has seen an increase in the number of assassinations of government officials in recent times.
