Las Anod sees night fighting since war erupted there nine days ago

Las Anod Feb 14, 2023 (SD) – Various reports are emerging about the damage caused by the fierce battle that took place yesterday inside the city of Laascaanood, the capital of the Sool region, between the Somaliland forces and the local militia.

The conflict, which erupted in the early hours of the night, resulted in significant damage to various buildings, especially the police station in the city.

Several civilian casualties have been reported, with some residents saying that they witnessed civilians being caught in the crossfire during the fighting.

Moreover, the situation remains tense, as the two sides continued fighting in the same area after a nine straight days.

As of now, no official statement has been made by either side regarding the fighting that erupted in Laascaanood.

The situation remains fluid, as both sides continue to engage in sporadic clashes, and tensions are running high amid fears that the situation may escalate into a full-scale war.

The situation has gotten worst, especially after the recent escalation of hostilities by Somaliland, as the conflict shows no signs of abating.

Both sides have declared a ceasefire, but neither has expressed any willingness to negotiate a peaceful settlement.
