GALKAYO (SD)—Officials from Puntland and Galmudug held a recent peace conference in Galkayo, and decisions were made to resolve the clan conflict in the western Mudug region.
The joint statement released by the leaders of both Puntland and Galmudug highlighted three key points:
Within seven days, a committee will be formed to address the dispute between the Sa’ad and Lelkase clans and to implement the decisions made during the first phase of peace talks.
Both sides agreed to resolve any issues that emerged after the initial phase of peace talks, working with technical committees and elders from both clans.
Both sides’ peace committees, technical teams, and elders will collaborate to prevent further violence.
These measures are intended to stabilize the region and continue the peace-building process.
