ADHI-CADEEYE – A mass burial was held today for 21 civilians who were killed during inter-clan fighting in the Adhi-cadeeye area of the Sool region.
According to local reports, the bodies of the victims were handed over to their families on Friday morning before being laid to rest in a collective burial ceremony near Adhi-cadeeye. The deceased were reported to be members of the Fiqishini clan.
Sources said the violence that erupted in the area on Thursday resulted in the deaths of at least 25 people, including traditional elders, women, and other civilians.
The incident has shocked local communities and renewed concerns over recurring clan conflicts in several Somali-inhabited regions.
As of the time of reporting, authorities in Puntland had not issued an official statement regarding the latest violence.
The clashes come only weeks after another deadly incident in the Madax-lagu-xoor area, highlighting continuing security challenges linked to clan disputes and competition over local resources and territory.
Community leaders and residents have increasingly called for reconciliation efforts and stronger intervention by authorities to prevent further bloodshed and protect civilians from recurring cycles of violence.
The Adhi-cadeeye killings underscore the persistent threat posed by inter-clan conflicts in parts of the Somali territories. The reported deaths of elders, women, and other civilians have heightened concerns about the humanitarian impact of such disputes. Without effective mediation and reconciliation efforts, there are fears that retaliatory violence could further destabilize the area.
