UK’s multi Olympic winner Sir Mohamed Moktar Jama Farah aka Mo Farah has won a historic victory at the Diamond League in Brussels.
Mo Farah has run 21,330 kilometers per hour to break the previous record of 21.285 km (13.255 miles) set by Ethiopian legend Haile Gebrselassie 2007.
“It isn’t supposed to be easy to break a world record, but I can tell you that it was really hard. The record stood for a very long time,” said Farah.
Belgium’s Bashir Abdi posed a significant challenge during the competition, but was no match to Mo Farah at the end.
Mo Farah, who is aiming to compete in the postponed 10,000 m at the Tokyo Olympics, will return to road racing next month, against long-distance runners, Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge and Ethiopia’s Kenenisa Bekele.
