Mogadishu (SD) – Benadir Governor and Mayor of Mogadishu Omar Mohamud Mohamed (Omar Filish), Speaking at a Covid-19 awareness event in Mogadishu said authorities registered 500 deaths last 12 days in Mogadishu.

Omar Filish said that since April 19, they have been conducting investigations at the city’s morgues and cemeteries.

The mayor of Mogadishu said that they have so far documented the deaths of about 500 people, who have died in the Benadir region.

According to the mayor, the maximum number they registered in one day was 43 people, while the lowest number was 22.

News comes as the Somali Minister of Information recently said that they are attributing virtually all deaths in the country to COVID-19 at this time.

Governor Filish finally called on the Somali people to take the government’s health advice, in controlling the spread of Covid-19.
