MOGADISHU (SD) -Somali Police Spokesperson, Abdifatah Adan Hassan, provided a detailed explanation regarding the significant presence of heavily armed forces seen in many parts of Mogadishu in recent hours following security alerts issued by the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi.

He stated that these forces consist of various units within the police force, particularly focused on ensuring the security of the capital and protecting the lives of Somali citizens amidst increased threats from insurgent groups.

Abdifatah Adan also mentioned the existence of specific security threats known to the Federal Government in Mogadishu, highlighting that the security situation in the city is currently at its best.

The remarks from the Somali Police spokesperson came about 48 hours after the U.S. Embassy issued a warning about a potential security threat indicating possible attacks on several locations in Mogadishu, including Aden Adde International Airport and the city’s main marketplace.
