Mogadishu’s bizarre claim on international Aid to Somaliland

Mogadishu (SD) – The President of the Federal Government of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo participated in the regular meeting of the National Committee for the Prevention and Control of COVID19.

In a press statement, President Farmajo commended the Government for its delivery of COVID-19 medical supplies to all regional states for patients infected with COVID-19.

At the federal level, the COVID-19 disease control panel presented a table detailing the delivery of medical supplies to capitals of the regional states, including the breakaway capital Hargeisa.

President Farmajo thanked countries for donating medical equipment, as these countries themselves have a great need for medical supplies.

For their part, the National Committee for the Prevention and Control of COVID19 is said to have presented the President with information on the health of the country, the status of patients in quarantine and the extent of community awareness efforts on the risk of disease.

Somaliland didn’t yet comment on Somalia’s claim on delivering medical supplies to Hargeisa, and including them on the member states lists.

Somaliland united with Somalia on June 26, 1960 and subsequently reclaimed its sovereignty May 18, 1991, after a bitter civil war with Somalia’s military regime.
