National Salvation Forum opens a Critical Conference in Mogadishu

Mogadishu (SD) – Somalia’s National Salvation Forum held a conference this afternoon at a hotel in Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport.

The forum unites Puntland and Jubaland administrations, the Union of Candidates and Somaliland federal politicians.

The Chairman of the National Salvation Forum, and the speaker of Somalia’s upper house Mr. Abdi Hashi Abdullahi shared with the media that the Forum’s meetings will continue until the country is saved from the current situation.

“As we all know in our country for some time there has been a struggle for free and fair elections, and The forum is committed to bringing free and fair elections to the country” said Abdi Hashi.

The Chairman continued “Afgoye is 30km from Mogadishu, and government officials cannot go there by car, they have to fly, this should not be, and we need to negotiate, reconcile and save the country from the crisis, if we do not build an inclusive government, we will not be able to solve these problems. The forum’s conference is open and will continue until Somalis reach an agreement.”

The opening of the National Salvation Forum’s conference in Mogadishu coincides with the second day of a consultative meeting between the leaders of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and the regional administrations at the Aviation center, although Puntland and Jubaland leaders did not attend.
