National Security Advisor to the President of Somalia: There is no plan for Egypt to send us troops

MOGADISHU (SD)-In an interview with VOA, the National Security Advisor to the President of Somalia, Hussein Macalin Mohamoud, discussed several issues, including the deployment of troops to Somalia from Turkey and Egypt, and the recent looting of weapons in Abudwak.

National Security Advisor Xuseen Macalin Maxamuud initially stated that troops from Turkey are expected to arrive in Somalia soon, and their arrival is part of a defense agreement between the governments of Somalia and Turkey.

He also addressed rumors that the Egyptian government is sending troops to Somalia. “There is no plan for Egypt to send us troops; the Cairo government is only participating in efforts to help Somali forces stand on their own feet,” said Xuseen Macalin.

Finally, when asked about the recent looting of weapons in Abudwak, who owned them, and what the Federal Government knows about the incident, the National Security Advisor declined to comment. He noted that the investigation into the incident is ongoing and that he does not want to preempt the results.
