National Weapons, and Ammunition Management opens in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (SD) -A conference on the management of National Weapons, and Ammunition Management opened today in Mogadishu, which will last two days.

The conference was inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Abdifitaax Qasim, who stated that the conference comes at a crucial time, as the UN lifted the arms embargo on Somalia and the war against AS.

The conference will be attended by officials from the federal government, regional administrations, and representatives from the international community, who will discuss Somalia’s weapons management, as the government aims to procure heavy weapons.

He also expressed optimism that positive outcomes would emerge, which would benefit the Somali government.

Additionally, he thanked the governments that contributed to lifting the embargo, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Turkey, and the European Union.

This conference is the largest held since the UN lifted the Arms embargo on Somalia in December of last year, 2023.
