New COVID-19 cases found in Somalia

Mogadishu (SD) – Somali Minister of Health and Social Welfare Fawziya Abikar Nur, confirmed 2 more COVID-19 deaths and 19 more newly infected people in the country today.

The total number of infected people in the country is at 135 and seven people have died so far, the minister said.

Ms. Fawzia Abikar Noor statement included plans to continue joint efforts in controlling the spread of the virus and again called on the community to take authorities mitigating advice.

Benadir governor and mayor of Mogadishu, Omar Mohamed Mohamud (Omar Filish), who spoke on the COVID-19 control plan, said the government has changed the way COVID-19 casualties are handled, with special teams working.

In Somalia, COVID-19 is very prevalent, On the other hand, the warnings are not formally followed by the community, such as social distensing, contact and sheltering in place.
