Officials from the self-declared “Hiiraan State,” formally handed over key government facilities to the Feds

BELEDWEYNE (SD) -Officials from the self-declared “Hiiraan State,” including Abdikadir Olow and Abdirashid Ilkase, formally handed over key government facilities in Hiiraan to representatives of the Federal Government of Somalia. The facilities included the regional administration offices, the Baledweyne district offices, and the Lamagalaay military camp.

The handover ceremony was attended by Federal Government officials led by Minister of Petroleum Dahir Shire Mohamed, NISA Chief Abdullahi Mohamed Ali Sanbalolshe, and Somali Members of Parliament.

During the event, former officials of the Hiiraan State administration highlighted their efforts in managing the facilities and handed them over peacefully.

Minister Daahir Shire and the NISA Chief assured the Hiiraan community that the Federal Government would work toward establishing an inclusive system that benefits all. They urged the residents of Baledweyne to support government efforts in strengthening security and governance and promised significant renovations to the facilities to improve public services.

Additionally, Somali National Army forces reopened critical roads in Baledweyne, which had been closed due to conflicts between rival administrations disputing control of the city. This marks a step toward restoring order and facilitating development in the region.
