Dhusamareb (SD) – The first phase of the regional member states summit in Dhusamareb town of Galmudug was successfully concluded today by the heads of Somalia’s regional member states.
Galmudug President Ahmed Qoor-Qoor, who hosted Somalia’s regional member states conference, paid tribute to the attendees and added that the conference is consultative, and thanked Somalis and the international community.
Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni, who spoke at the opening ceremony of the conference, gave details of the country’s political woes and the need for a consultation conference, his speech focused on how to rebuild the country.
President Deni said it would have been great to get one person one vote, adding that “We should be content with what we can do “.
The President of South Western State Abdiasis Laftagaren after spoke about the critical political issues facing Somalis in his opening ceremony speech.
Laftagaren said Somalis agree that the elections should happen in a timely and fair way, but the issues is there is a lack of cooperation between the regional states and the federal institutions.
The Jubaland President said one person one vote have been discussed prior to the creation of the electoral commission, if its not possible we should move forward.
The Summit, he said will not take the role of the federal government, proposing to attendees to come up with solutions that will benefit the whole country possibly leading the country to prosperity and success to the country.
Hirshabelle State President Mohamed Abdi Ware, who spoke at the summit, said the constitution was a product of violence and uncertainty in the country, adding that it must be looked at with compassion, a good conscience, and with a mother’s eye.
He called on the international community to support the agreement and he showed support for the elections to be held on time.
