NY (SD)-The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, delivered a speech at the United Nations General Assembly last night. In his address, the Prime Minister focused on the situation in Somalia, particularly the fight against the Al-Shabaab group and the government’s efforts toward stability and development in the country.
He also discussed the tension between Somalia and Ethiopia, especially regarding maritime disputes and the cooperation between the two countries on security and economic issues. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully through effective dialogue and cooperation.
Furthermore, Hamza Abdi Barre specifically addressed the dire situation in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the humanitarian crisis there, and called on the international community to respond urgently to this situation. He reiterated the need for a lasting solution to the ongoing conflict in the region and the protection of the rights of the Palestinian people.
The Prime Minister’s speech also focused on connecting Somalia with global agendas, such as combating terrorism, and climate change, and participating in global economic development.
