Somalia’s Federal Parliament submitted a motion against the Foreign Affairs Minister

MOGADISHU (SD)-Members of the Federal Parliament of Somalia have filed a motion against the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi.

The lawmakers who submitted the motion specifically pointed out several issues in which they claim the Minister has failed. These include neglecting the diplomatic relations that Somalia had with important countries and organizations, and the lack of expected efforts to resolve diplomatic issues, such as the maritime dispute between Somalia and Ethiopia.

This motion is one of the most significant steps taken by the House of the People to review government officials, and it is expected that the Minister will defend himself and respond to the accusations made against him.

This development comes at a time when there is political unrest within the government and Parliament, with emerging disputes related to the management and power-sharing of key government positions.

This political move against the Minister of Foreign Affairs might impact Somalia’s foreign policy, especially the close relationships the government maintains with regional countries and international organizations.

It is anticipated that the motion will be debated in the upcoming parliamentary sessions, with the lawmakers opposing the Minister organizing a substantial campaign to remove him from office.
