PM Hamza: Jubaland Elections are Illegal

MOGADISHU (SD) -Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre today attacked the President of the Jubaland Ahmed Madobe for his Re-lection ambitions.

Hamza stated that the election process in Jubaland is illegal and unacceptable. He accused the President of Jubaland of pursuing personal interests rather than national ones, violating all the agreements he signed, and engaging in an unacceptable self-election process.

Prime Minister Hamza claimed that President Madobe is not eligible to run for re-election in Jubaland as he lacks the legal mandate, and according to Article 70 of the Jubaland Constitution, he cannot serve more than two terms.

“Ahmed Madobe has no legal authority or mandate to oversee the Jubaland election; it is illegal, and anything stemming from it will be illegal. An illegitimate process cannot produce legitimate results,” said Prime Minister Hamza.

The Prime Minister called on the Jubaland security forces not to get involved in the current political issues, warning President Madobe against using the military for political purposes.

“I urge my brother not to use the military for political purposes, as this will be an unforgivable crime if he does so, and it could lead to the disintegration of the Jubaland forces,” said Prime Minister Hamza.
